So quite a lot has happened in the last couple of weeks, firstly I had a fantastic week down at Falmouth with my family, the weather was fantastic and the beach was gorgeous so I was able to catch up on lots of reading, sleeping and eating. Mum and I took long walks on the beach and swam in the crystal clear (and freezing) water so it was very refreshing and theraputic.
I had an Obs appointment yesterday and everything is coming along nicely with the pregnancy, I passed my blood test so am happy to report that I don't have GD which is fantastic. The midwife said I have a nice little baby growing steadily so thats all I care about. I also had another Anti-D shot because I am an 0 neg blood type so this will stop my immune system killing of baby G's blood cells if he/she is positive.
I am back at work now and have 5 weeks to go so I am on the count down. I am feeling pretty good about everything so now I want to focus on my preparation for labour so I know I have done everything I can to be ready. DH and I are going to set up the nusery in March when we have some time off so I am looking forward to getting that organised and I just hope two weeks is enough time for DH to finish painting and help me set up the furniture. We have so much on our to do list so it will probably take us most of March to get the house completely organised so fingers crossed its enough time.

27+ Weeks
So this is when they say is the most active the baby will be and I have to agree. Its not that I am getting kicked so much but more so strummed like a guitar, baby G loves pulling and pushing against all my muscels and ligaments and whatever else is in there and just strumming away. It still amazes me and I can't quite get my head around it so it must feel very strange when the baby is not there anymore.
I am feeling pretty good, very tired today but I am sleeping and eating well so I think its just third trimester stuff. I have a week at a beach house in Falmouth as of Monday and I am really looking forward to that, sleeping, eating and reading will be the main objectives so nothing too stressful.
The temp is starting to rise here so I have been spending the last few afternoons floating about in my sisters pool which has been a life saver. I love summer and hope we have a long one this year because it has only really started for us in the last week or so, it would also be lovely to have baby G in some semi warm weather as opposed to the dead of the winter chill.
Anyway, all is going well and I will have my GD blood tests tonight so I guess I will find out in a week or so if I have passed that, I really hope I don't have GD.

First day back at work
So I had my first day back at work today which wasn't so bad, it was great having the last 10 days off to rest up and pretty much do nothing. I was getting very lazy and sleeping at least 10 hours a night plus having little nanna naps in the afternoon so it just goes to show how little can be achieved when you don't plan anything. I figure that I probably needed the rest and I won't get another chance to relax like that until maternity leave in March.
I managed to make a start with my nesting and cleared out a few kitchen cupboards and the laundry where things had started to pile up. The rest I will do in March with DH who can help do some of the heavy lifting and moving.
The nursury is ready for baby furniture and we just need to move out the spare bed in there at the moment before the cot and change table can be moved in. I need to find a rug for the floor and a cheap chest of draws too, we have a built in cupboard but little baby clothes will easily get messed up in that so I think a chest of draws would be best.
I have my BF's baby shower this weekend which will be great fun, she only has 5 weeks to go and I am really excited for her. She is taking everything in her stride at the moment and I try and imagine what I will be like at her stage and I have a feeling I will be quite anxious. Anyway, time will soon tell.

The last day of the year
Ok I admit I have been insanely slack in keeping up to date with my blogging bad bad bad. One of my New Years resolutions will be to keep more up to date with my blog, I also plan to be a lot more organised with keeping my friends and family up to date with my news, especially when the baby arrives which I am sure is going to feel a lot closer in the new year.
The last few weeks have been fairly busy but very good, I have had the last week and a half off from work which is exactly what I have needed, I have caught up on a lot of sleep which feels great and where pre-pregnancy I had no problems getting up at 7.00am most mornings I am not quite good at sleeping in until 9.00am and taking nanna naps in the afternoon on top of that, you gotta love it.
Christmas was pretty quiet but thats exactly how I like it. DH and I spent the day with my family for lunch and then DH's father and step mother came up from Devonport to stay with us for Christmas night. I do admit to having a lovely glass of sav blanc but as long as I drink it slowly or mix it with soda water I think it is ok, I am a big sav blanc fan and I don't think a glass here and there will hurt.
Baby G is getting a lot more active now which is amazing yet sometimes at night when I am trying to get to sleep frustrating. Baby G seems to be spending more and more time upside down so the last few days I have felt a few interesting kicks to the ribs. Most of the time baby G prefers my right side and kicking the buggary out of my bladder so one minute I will be fine and the next I am busting to go to the toilet.
My BF is due in Feb so I am also finishing last minute plans for her baby shower which will be on the 10th January. I am looking forward to it so I hope it all goes off without a hitch. I have organised baby gift bingo which I am hoping will make the opening of the gifts quite interesting, guess her size (the old toilet paper around the belly number), guess the baby food combo (I have been nice and selected mainly fruit combinations but I did throw in what looks like a tempting lamb number). I will think up one more game as a reserve as I am not sure how many you would usually play and I guess it will depend on the mood of everyone at the time.
Anyway, I am off to do a bit of last minute cooking for a dinner DH and I are going to tonight for New Years. I hope everyone has a lovely one

Work blues
I am so over work at the moment and can't wait for holidays and maternity leave. I know I will miss it when I am gone and I really do enjoy my role but its days like this when I am completely over working. I think I am just feeling worn out at the moment and by the end of the week I am ready for a weekend of sleep which for me seems like a massive waste of a good weekend.
Anyway, I have a week at the beach in January so that will be brilliant and then its only a few months until maternity leave. I have so many little projects I want to get stuck into around the house and baby related, I love the idea of being a house wife. Of course the little one could put all my plans on hold until I work out what to do with him/her but I am hoping that doesn't take the full year.

17 week scan was A OK
Why do I worry about these things so much, I should trust my gut instincts and go with the flow. I wasn't as bad as I thought I would be leading up to the scan actually but it was fantastic seeing baby G on the screen kicking away and attempting to suck his thumb. So cute!
I have loads of scan pics which I will post as soon as I can get organised, we dont have a computer at home and its almost impossible to do it at work.
Anyway, baby G was awesome and I will call him a "he" because I just feel very strongly that we are having a boy. The ultrasound tech said everything looked great, my placenta was sitting quite low but they will watch that and I will have one final scan at 33 weeks to double check it. Baby G tried to suck his thumb quite a few times and had the hiccups which was the funniest thing I have ever seen. Mum came to the scan with DH and I and it was great she could be there and see it all because they never had scans back in her day.
The best part is I can feel baby G kicking now, it is pretty regular when I sit in my office chair and feels a little like gas or bubbles popping - I know its not gas because nothing comes out the other end if you know what I mean. Its so exciting feeling kicks for the first time and very reassuring to know he is in there having a nice little party for one. The next stage will be for DH to feel them, I cant wait.

Long Weekend Fun
DH and I had a very rare weekend off together which was great. We never planned to go away which was a bit of a bugger but we finally got a chance to order some baby furniture and ended up getting a red strider (pram), cot, change table and car seat so at least we have all the BIG items organised and have 3 months to pay off (we will need it).
On Sunday we went for a picnic which was beautiful and Monday I had a me day and just got the house organised and did a practice run at making cupcakes for my best friends baby shower in January (which turned out really well if I do say so myself, even the pretty pink icing was a winner). DH was thrilled that I am back in the kitchen experimenting as he gets to eat the final product.
I have my 17 week scan today, I am sure everything will be fine especially now I can feel baby G kicking away but I still get nervous about these appointments and I don't think I will ever really look forward to them. I will be fine when I see baby G bouncing around the screen, not so much the "going to burst at any moment" bladder feeling.
DH has decided he doesn't want to know the sex and I figure he only gets the opporunity to make one decision in this pregnancy so it might as well be that one. I don't mind either way but I am glad a decision has been made.
